Response of Allium Cepa Linn Transplants To Different Plant Growth Regulators

The present trial was conducted at A. S. Jat College, Lakhaoti in the year 1964–65. All the three regulators (IAA, IBA and NAA) were significantly superior to control in all respects and NAA was the most effective. In general application of 300 ppm shows its superiority over other concentrations. The tallest plants were obtained by applying 300 ppm NAA and the maximum number of leaves per plant with 100 ppm NAA, 300 ppm NAA and IBA. Maximum fresh weight of the leaves was recorded with 300 ppm NAA. Bigger size bulbs were obtained by spraying NAA at 300 ppm. Heaviest bulbs were obtained by spraying 100 ppm solution. The results revealed that for production of good quality of onion and higher yield plant regulator NAA should be perferred over IBA and IAA Out of the three concentrations 300 ppm had better effect.
