Objective To observe the effects of angelica sinensis polysaccharide(ASP) on experimental liver injury in mice. Methods 50% carbon tetrachloride solution was applied to establish experimental liver injury model. The activity of serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and glutathione s-transferase(GST) and the MDA content of liver homogenate in mice were tested individually in control group, CCL4-treated group, CCL4+Allitridi(Alt)-treated group and CCL4+ASP-treated group. Results Both ASP and Alt can reduce the AST activity in serum and the MDA content in liver homogenate to the normal level and strongly suppress the activity of serum GST in CCL4-treated mice (all P0.01). ASP was more effective than Alt in suppression of serum AST and GST activities (P0.01).Conclusion Both ASP and Alt have good protective effects on CCL4-induced liver injury in mice; whereas ASP may be supperior to Alt.
