Crystal-chemical stabilization of slags from refined-ferrochrome production

Crystal-chemical stabilization of the slags from refined-ferroalloy production has been introduced, for the first time in global practice, at Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant (a branch of AO TNK Kazkhrom), with the assistance of OAO Ural’skii Institut Metallov. Boron-bearing materials from Indersk and Dal’negorsk ore are tested as stabilizing agents. The influence of various stabilizers on the process and on the economics of smelting low- and moderate-carbon ferrochrome is demonstrated.
