Pepper is the fruit of the plant from the genus Capsicum belonging to the Solanaceae family. The Capsicum genus includes the C. Anuum complex that comprises Capsicum annuum, Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens varieties.1 Only a few cases of allergic reactions to fruits from Capsicum genus have been reported, mainly to Capsicum annuum (bell pepper).2 We describe for the first time the case of a woman with anaphylaxis induced by pickled green chili peppers (Capsicum frutescens), analyzing the role that pickling processing could have in the anaphylactic reaction.
