The pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis can learn associative learning and consolidate it into long-term memory. Previous studies have shown that insulin plays an important role in snails’ learning and memory ability. During conditioned taste aversion (CTA) learning, molluscan insulin-related peptides are up-regulated in its central nervous system (CNS). In addition, it has been shown that when mammalian insulin is administered to a group of individuals with low learning performance and acts on the CNS, learning performance improves.
