Clinical aspects of nurse anesthesia practice: monitoring and decision making.

This article discusses how nurse anesthetists use clinical monitoring to make decisions that guide anesthetic administration. The importance of both didactic and clinical knowledge in making appropriate clinical decisions is examined. A multi-system approach is applied to investigate the various types of clinical monitoring used to observe the patient undergoing general or regional anesthesia.
