摘要
Electrical energy may be stored in the form of chemical energy which can be reconverted back to electrical energy for power electric vehicles and machinery or converted into other forms of energy for proper utilization. It was an urgent research task in 1970’s to develop new types of chemical battery to replace the conventional lead battery for energy storage. These batteries must be large in storage capacity, light weight and compact size. In case of vehicular propulsion, the use of electrical energy is more efficient and less polluting than the conventional internal and external combustion engines.
