摘要
Aluminum-ion batteries (AIBs) are regarded as a viable alternative to the present Li-ion technology benefiting from their high volumetric capacity and the rich abundance of aluminum. For providing a full scope for AIBs, we will discuss the evolution of electrodes with different electrochemical charge storage mechanisms. Particular attention will also be paid to the development of electrolyte based on the cost and practical application. Finally, the perspectives for the possible future efforts in this field will be analyzed to push the progress of the state-of-the-art AIBs, with expectation of bridging the gap between laboratory exploration and practical applications.
