摘要
The Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) are emerging two-dimensional layered nanomaterials with interlayer anions and water molecules. The electrochemical properties of LDHs, like high anion exchange capacity, less toxicity, and low cost, make them remarkable materials for various applications. However, applications of pristine LDHs are limited due to their low ionic conductivity and lack of functional groups. The novel Ionic Liquids (IL) modified Layered Double Hydroxides (IL-LDHs) nanocomposites possess high ionic conductivity, increased surface area, and functional groups. Herein, we present the modification of LDHs with various ILs to tailor their properties for different applications. The synthesis routes, physicochemical properties, and performance enhancement mechanisms of various IL-LDHs are discussed. The effective modulation of physiochemical properties of IL-LDHs results in promising materials, suitable for various applications such as water remediation, electrochemical sensors, heterogenous catalysts, and polymers.
