Cotton leaf curl Multan virus activates autophagy in the whitefly AsiaII7 , weakening its vectorial capacity for transmission

CLCuMuV infection can activate the autophagy pathway in whiteflies. The activation of autophagy leads to the subsequent degradation of the virus and suppresses CLCuMuV transmission efficiency, whereas suppression of autophagy promotes virus transmission. Our research provides insight into the potential role of autophagy in antiviral defense mechanisms. © 2025 Society of Chemical Industry.
