摘要
Cane molasses, or blackstrap, the byproduct of the manufacture of cane sugar, is palatable and much relished by farm animals. Henry and Morrison1 report that, when fed in moderate amounts, it is about equal, pound for pound, to corn for fattening farm animals. A survey of the literature reveals practically no data on the feeding value of molasses for poultry. Graham2, Lee3, and Lippincott4 have mentioned its use in fattening rations. Owing to the cheapness and abundance of the product, it could well be included in poultry rations if found to be of benefit. The object of the experiments reported here was to determine the value of cane molasses as a substitute for part of the cereal grains in poultry rations. EXPERIMENTS WITH LAYING HENS In Trial 1 there were 60 two- and three-year-old Leghorn hens in each pen. The experiment ran from October 21, 1926, to March 4, 1927. . . .
