Stratigraphy is a fundamental subject burgeoning following the development of Earth sciences.In the International Chronostratigraphic Chart,10GSSPs(Golden Spikes)have been defined in China,which became the major indications for global stratotype.The chronological results of the crucial geological times and events have attracted the attention of worldwide geologists.Time(geological age)is the basic element in stratigraphic division and correlation.The precision is upgrading in certain areas and geological periods upon the Earthtime Project.The International Earthtime Project aims at correcting and integrating all data produced by various dating methods from different laboratories,in the hope of promoting the technology and standard.Whether biostratigraphy or isotope stratigraphy,the precision cannot be completely increased by a single method.Like the international project,the Earthtime-CN is paying more attention to an integrated research,including isotopic chronostratigraphy,biostratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy,cyclostratigraphy etc.,to set up a geological time table of China.As part of the international project,the Earthtime-CN is to organize integrated stratigraphic research,to advance joint work between different subjects and laboratories,and to process global stratigraphic correlation at critical stratotypes and geological events with high precision and resolution.
