As a porous solid adsorbent, porous glass microspheres were prepared and its adsorption feature in liquid phase was investigated. The Na 2O-B 2O 3-SiO 2 system was used to manufacture porous glass microspheres with a novel device. The procedures include grinding, phase separation, acid treatment and membranous dealing. The poruous glass microspheres with diameters of 1-10 μm and pore size of 10 nm were obtained. The adsorption properties of the microspheres were characterized by adsorption isotherm, specific surface and pore distribution with the help of N 2 adsorption. The adsorption isotherms of phenol, polyoxyethylene ether and polypropylene glycol were tested, based on which effective means to increase the adsorption of porous glass microsphere is proposed.
