Selective detection of mercury ions via single and dual signals by silicon-doped carbon quantum dots

Fluorescence was quenched following the addition of Hg 2+ to a Si-CQD solution. When Si-CQDs and RhB formed the ratiometric fluorescent probe, the blue fluorescence was quenched by Hg 2+ addition, while the orange fluorescence remained unchanged.
