OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) through unilateral puncture of extreme extrapedicular approach and bilateral injection of bone cement. Compared with the transpedicular approach, the bone cement can be distributed bilaterally in the vertebral body without prolonging the operation time and radiation exposure time, and has an advantage of decreasing long-term local Cobb angle losing of the fractured vertebrae.
