A Comparative Analysis of the Mapping Models of Conceptual Metaphor in English and Chinese Economic News Discourses

Metaphor is an effective tool of constructing conceptual systems,which provides a vivid concise way for our understanding of the abstract concepts of economy.The economic news discourses contain numerous metaphorical expressions,among which journey metaphor,war metaphor and animal metaphor are the most common ones.The mapping models of conceptual metaphor in English and Chinese economic news discourses share many similarities,both of which reflect the experiential essence of metaphor,namely,people who come from the objective world construe the abstract economic concepts through their body experience.
