115 cases of young patients with esophageal and cardiac carcinoma treated by operation were analysed. The resection rate was 78.3 % , the operative mortality rate was 2.6%, and the anastomotic teak rate was 3.5%. The other postoperative complication rate was 14.8%. The 1-, 3-, 5- and 10-year survival rates were 78.3%, 38.5%, 26.8% and 11.1% respective ly. The young patents with esophageal and cardiac carcinoma were characterized by the short course, rapid development and bwer resection and survival rates. The survival rate of esophageal carcinoma was much higher than that of cardiac carcinoma In esophageal carcinoma, the survival rate of lesion ≤5cm was much higher than that of lesion 5cm.In order to increase the postoperative survival rate it depends upon earty diagnosis, early operative resection and radio-therapy and chemotherapy in combination.
