Intrinsic kinetics of ammonium sulfite oxidation with existence of ethanedioic acid were studied using intermittent apparatus by changing the initial pH value of solution, the molar concentration of both ammonium sulfite and ethanedioic acid, and the reaction temperature. Results show that the oxidation rate of ammonium sulfite decreases with rising molar concentration of ethanedioic acid, and increases with rising molar concentration of ammonium sulfite itself;the reaction order of ethanedioic acid and ammonium sulfite is respectively-0.4 and 1.2.Under the tested condition, oxidation rate of ammonium sulfite rises with temperature, but the reaction temperture should be controlled below 60 ℃.The activation energy of oxidation is 30.318 kJ·mol-1.
