Survey of issues and challenges in the Mac Layer for Qos in WiMAX

This paper reviews the fundamentals of WiMAX networks addressed in relevant standards and several papers. At first a global overview of the WiMAX technology is provided followed by a QoS concerns and challenges associated to the WiMAX/IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless technology. Then the issues for efficient QoS support is explained and the brief of scheduling algorithms is represented to overcome these issues. At the end this paper reviews the comparison of different simulators used for WiMAX, applications of WiMAX and open issues.
