Overseas Chinese of Japan and the Match Industry in Modern China With A Special Reference to the Match Industry in Central and East China

This article examines the rise of match industry in Central and East China and the roles played by a number of Overseas Chinese merchants from Kobe and Osaka of Japan,together with a discussion on their experiences which were full of ups and downs and their lessons.With the development of Japan's match industry,Overseas Chinese merchants from Japan launched this industry in China with their experience accumulated in Japan.They were actively involved in this industry in terms of financing and investment and contributed significantly towards the rise and development of the match industry in the motherland under the adverse restrictive policies.Their experiences and lessons should not be forgotten while studying the history of Overseas Chinese in Japan.
