Preparation of Cyclopantanol by Hydration of Cyclopentene

Cyclopentanol was prepared by hydration of cyclopentene in an autoclave in the presence of a thermostable catalyst screened out from a series of strong acid cation exchange resins. The conversion of cyclopentene was 25.7%, and the selectivity of cyclopentanol was 93% after 4 h reaction at the conditions of temperature 130~140 (°C), rotate rate 600 r/min, catalyst 30 g, H_2O: cyclopentene=5.5~6.5∶1((mol∶mol)) and phenol∶cyclopentene=1∶1(m∶m).
