Removal of Phenol by Combined Process of Ozone and Biological Activated Carbon

The efficiency of O3/ BAC to remove phenol from micro-polluted raw water was studied,and the influencing factors were analyzed. The results showed that the oxidation and biological degradation played an important role in the removal of phenol by O3/ BAC with excellent removal efficiency.When the initial concentration of phenol was increased,the concentration of phenol in the effluent also increased gradually. When there was Mn2 +in phenol solution,the removal rate of phenol by O3/ BAC was improved. In the presence of NH+4,the efficiency of O3/ BAC to remove phenol was decreased significantly. In addition,higher p H value contributed to the removal of phenol by O3/ BAC.
