At the 1999 San Antonio Conference quite a few of the attendees were introduced to the Genrich S. AltshuUer's Theory of the Solution of Inventive Problems (the Russian acronym being TRIZ). We were also provided with the IDEATION Intemational Inc. version of the acronym TRIZ, Theory of Inventive Problem Solving. It was not until 1995 that we saw a certified TRIZ Specialist in the USA. World-wide interest in this Theory is growmg daily and we need to address its value, or lack of it, to us as practitioners of the Larry Miles Value Methodology (MVM). In this paper I shall make an objective assessment of the potential benefits from the formal inclusion of the TRIZ into the Miles's methodology suite of sfrategies and techniques. Further I shall endeavour to make an objective comparison of the outcomes from M V M , current Creative Problem Solving Strategies (CPSS) and the potential for those produced through the application of TRIZ.
