Progress of study on congenital aniridia with cataract

Congenital aniridia is a rare genetic eye disease. There is a high cataract prevalence in these patients and the cataract surgery usually required. But the kind of cataract surgery is difficult and usually in high risk. The postoperative visual acuity improved limited. The symptoms of photophobia can be decreased when iris-type IOL was implanted, but there are serious complications of secondary glaucoma, corneal endothelial decompensation, etc. So the iris-type IOL should be carefully applied. Because patients are also associated with other congenital anomalies, it is very important to the prognosis that the patients is closely followed up and do something for ocular changes accordingly in time after cataract surgery.(Int Rev Ophthalmol, 2018, 42: 24-27) Key words: congenital aniridia; cataract; complication
