Concerns surrounding environmental pollution by microplastics (MPs) that are plastics smaller than 5 mm and their potential for pollutant concentration and transport, such as heavy metals, are on the current agenda in the scientific community. The combination of its pollutant effects increases the problem of MPs in the environment. The present work aimed to study the process of adsorption of metal ions Pb 2+ , Cu 2+ and Ni 2+ in polyethylene (PE).The characterization by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) was made to highlight the type of amorphous surface found in the material In the study of adsorption kinetics in a monoelement system, the pseudo-second order model was verified as the main mechanism that governs the adsorption speed.Adsorption equilibrium tests were performed to determine the maximum adsorption capacity of the PE.The results revealed that among the models used (Langmuir, Freundlich and SIPs), what best filed to explain the phenomena was that of Freundlich due to the good determination coefficients found approaching one (0.988 -0.957).According to the SIP model, the highest maximum adsorption capacity was found in Ni 2+ 13.209 (mmol g -1 ).
