Urban Village Reconstruction in a Transformation Period: An Empirical Study on Residential Choice of the Migrant Worker

Based on a theoretical model of residential choice, this paper from a micro perspective finds the migrant workers' work-oriented and rent avoidance residential choice type under the HRS and explains the reason for difficult realization of urban village reconstruction. Therefore, from the long run, the correct direction for the urban village reconstruction is to transform the economic interest oriented concept, consider public interest to a maximal extent, and make transformation from the "leap-forward" overall reconstruction to the "progressive" comprehensive improvement.
