摘要
We read with great interest the recent European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) guideline on clinical nutrition in surgical patients, with regard to those undergoing major surgery or in the presence of postoperative complication [ [1] Weimann A. Braga M. Carli F. Higashiguchi T. Hübner M. Klek S. et al. ESPEN practical guideline: clinical nutrition in surgery. Clin Nutr. 2021; 40: 4745-4761 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (15) Google Scholar ]. The guidance included 37 practical recommendations, which were based on nutritional aspects of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) concept and ESPEN expert advice. This is a meaningful and excellent work and the authors should be applauded. However, we have one but possible very important issue concerning the indication for supplementing glutamine.
