摘要
This study directly compared and characterized the physicochemical properties and biological activities of salmon-derived PDRN (S-PDRN) and winterberry-derived PDRN (Wb-PDRN). The results showed that Wb-PDRN exhibited high purity with minimal impurities and a controlled low-molecular-weight distribution (50~1,200 kDa), along with cytocompatibility, cell proliferation, and wound-healing effects comparable to those of salmon-derived PDRN. Mechanistically, Wb-PDRN was confirmed to activate the same adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR) and downstream FAK/AKT/MAPK signaling pathways as S-PDRN. These findings suggest that Wb-PDRN could serve as an effective, non-animal alternative to S-PDRN in veterinary medicine and as a functional animal supplement, overcoming the allergenicity, palatability, and sustainability issues associated with marine-derived materials.
