Co(iii) 2-ethylhexanoate, a hydrophobic and highly soluble Co(iii) precursor for thin coatings for water electrolysis

Co( iii ) 2-ethylhexanoate (Co( iii )eh) is the first Co( iii ) species soluble in a wide spectrum of solvents including strong apolar media. At modest T or by laser irradiation, Co( iii )eh films convert to state-of-the-art cobalt oxide catalytic layers.
