Histological ossification in keloid tissue is associated with increased risk of postoperative recurrence: a retrospective cohort study of 384 cases

We retrospectively analysed 384 resected keloids and found that approximately 10% exhibited histologically confirmed heterotopic ossification. This ossification was significantly associated with postoperative recurrence, suggesting it may serve as a prognostic marker for treatment-resistant keloids.
