摘要
Through a summative content analysis, this chapter synthesizes the existing scholarly studies about immigrant women's learning experience in multicultural societies and explores new areas that have contributed to this field. The findings identify gaps in immigrant women's learning experiences in these ethnic diverse nations and pinpoint important domains and theoretical and methodological directions for future pertinent studies. Four categories have been identified. They are: (1) Health Literacy Learning. Parenthood Education and Family-related Learning; (2) Higher Education and Community-Based Lifelong Learning; (3) Work-related Experiences and Learning; (4) Socio-cultural Contexts of Learning. Based on the research findings, we propose an integrative educational framework (IEF) that aims to magnify a multi-dimensional lens for the inquiry into immigrant women's learning experiences and to foster an embraced learning environment for marginalized social groups to contend with social inequalities in global contexts.
