Around 2007, millions of teenagers began to embrace the smartphone camera and create a new medium for photography and video communication aided by user-applied software and third-party apps. Often indifferent to artistic technique, these amateur on-the-spot videos have changed not only the way we entertain each other but also how we view, judge, and document major events in society.
