摘要
CeO2 has been used as the refining agent in the melting of borosilicate glasses. The study of its influence on glass melt, structure and properties is inadequate. In this work, a series of borosilicate glasses were prepared with batches containing 0∼0.6wt% of CeO2. Besides the in-situ observation of refining process, the structure of the glasses was systematically investigated via IR, Raman,11B and 29Si NMR spectroscopy. The results showed that the viscosity of melts increased with CeO2 due to aggregation effect of Ce ions. However, the release of oxygen was dominant at high-temperature, thus the melt prepared with 0.6wt% CeO2 had the fastest refining rate, and was bubble-free within 60 min at 1550℃. With the increase of CeO2, both Q3 species and [BO3] in the glass network increased in the final sample, indicating the structure depolymerization, which led to the decrease of the chemical stability.
