Graphical Abstract The radio environment generated by an underlay D2D network does not form a Gaussian spatial random field, hence, ordinary Kriging is not optimal for radio environment mapping. A new variational Bayesian enabled Gaussian mixture model based Kriging interpolation scheme has been presented to achieve better performance over ordinary Kriging.
