The establishment of cerebral collateral circulation is a secondary compensatory mechanism after cerebral ischemia. The expression of endogenous angiogenic growth factors is upregulated, angiogenesis and arteriogenesis are initiated, and the establishment of collateral circulation is accelerated after cerebral ischemia. Some drugs may promote the establishment of collateral circulation after ischemic stroke and improve the prognosis of patients.
