An analytical design of an induction motor for electric vehicle application

摘要
Design of squirrel cage induction motors for electric vehicle application is different from the general purpose squirrel cage induction motor used in industrial drives application. The performance of an induction motor depends on its structural design and dimensions. In this paper, parametric study on core axial length, stator inner diameter and rotor outer diameter is carried out and its effect on efficiency, starting torque and breakdown torque is studied in detail using analytical method. This analysis is carried out on two different specifications of induction motors i.e. 5 hp, 110 V, 60 Hz and 5 hp, 110 V, 80 Hz. Moreover, the graphical representation of performance of machines are compared.
