This paper develops a new method of residual static correction based on matching pursuit algorithm. Taking advantage of matching pursuit algorithm in seismic signal decomposition and reconstruction, CMP gathers are decomposed into different atoms and the residual statics are applied to each atoms of CMP traces within a certain time window. Then, the corrected atoms are used to reconstruct the seismic signal. We apply the proposed method and cross-correlation residual static correction to synthetic and real datasets for comparing their results.
