Polysubstituted Fluoroalkylalkene Formation through Photoredox/Copper Dual Catalysis

Abstract Herein, we have developed photoredox/copper dual catalysis for the synthesis of structurally useful polysubstituted fluoroalkylalkenes. The cascade reaction involves defluoronative difluoroalkyl radical formation, radical addition to vinylene carbonate, radical-metal binding, β-elimination, and decarboxylation. This approach efficiently affords stereoregular tri- and tetrasubstituted fluoroalkyl alkenes with broad functional group tolerance.
