摘要
The current environmental literature acknowledges that employees perform both voluntary and required green tasks. To date, extensive efforts have been devoted to understanding the conditions leading to the performance of voluntary green tasks, while very little research has investigated the conditions leading to the performance of required green tasks. This study examines the conditions under which required green task performance occurs. Our moderated mediation results indicate that only the competence component of employee empowerment conveys the indirect effect of perceived organizational support for the environment on required green task performance at high levels of supervisory support. Our fsQCA findings indicate that required green task performance occurs with the presence of all components of empowerment and the presence of support, regardless of the source. The paper concludes by discussing the contribution of the findings to the current environmental literature devoted to the question of employee motivation to perform voluntary green tasks.
