Study on clinical characteristic of allergic conjunctivitis

Objective To understand the clinical characteristic of allergic conjunctivitis of Chinese .Methods The symptoms and signs of the 84 cases (161 eyes) of allergic conjunctivitis was evaluated and analysed.Results The average age of the 84 cases of allergic conjunctivitis was (38 61±12.72)years.The 33.33% of cases were male and 66 67% were female. The average scores were 11.79±4 36. Among the cases, 91 67% were acute allergic conjunctivitis and 8.33% were chronic. There was significant difference between acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis ( P 0.01). The highest frequency of symptoms was itching and the one of signs was conjunctival conjestion.The 26 19% of cases had history of asthma?allergic rhinitis or sensitization dermatitis.Conclusion The most important clinical characteristics of allergic conjunctivitis are itching and conjunctival conjestion,the patients of female are obviously more than males,and many patients usually have history of asthma?allergic rhinitis or sensitization dermatitis.
