OBJECTIVE To explore the antidepressant effects and the possible mechanism of 3′,6-disinapoyl sucrose(DISS) in pharmacological depression models.METHODS The 5-hydroxytryptophan potentiation test, yohimbine toxicity potentiation test, apomophine induced hypothermia test in mice were used in this study.RESULTS DISS significantly increased the head-twitches symptom in the 5-hydroxytryptophan(5-HTP) potentiation test mice and the yohimbine toxicity in mice. Also,DISS showed significantly antagonized effect on the apomorphine(16 mg·kg-1,ip) induced hypothermia in mice.CONCLUSION DISS has notable antidepressant effect in pharmacological depression models, which is closely related to the potentiation of central 5-HT system and NE system. And antidepressant curative dose of DISS shows no exciting-or inhibiting-effect on central nervous system.
