Optimization on the transesterification process of NDC with EG

Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) is a thermoplastic polyester material. Transesterification reaction of dimethyl-2, 6-naphthalene dicarboxylate (NDC) with ethylene glycol (EG) has been (studied) and reported in this paper. Reaction catalyst and N_2 flow rate were chosen .By orthogonal (experimentation),the optimum transesterification reaction conditions of NDC with EG were obtained as follows: reaction temperature 210 ℃;mole ratio of EG/NDC 2.8;catalyst concentration 8×10~(-4 )(mol / (mol) NDC) and reaction time 240 min.
