The iodine contents have given by some authors but are not accuracy by the unreliabe methods of its determination. So we are investigating the methods used for iodine determination and accomplished a modified method, which based upon the Trevorrow and Fashena's wet digestion method adapted for biological material. The principle of Procedure is as follows:The milk oxidized the organic matter with chromic acid in the presence of sulphuric acid and a very small amount of cerous sulphate. All of the iodine present is oxidized to iodic acid, by this treatment. The iodic acid is then reduced to free iodine by phosphorous acid and distilled into a receiver, which contains potassium carbonate. After oxidized iodine with bromine, iodic acid is allowed to react with potassium iodide and the liberated iodine is titrated with standardized thiosulphate The following data show the iodine content of human and cow's milk found by the above method.
