Objective To study the protective effects of soybean oligopeptide( SOP) on UVB-induced skin photoaging of BALB / c mice. Methods BALB / c mice were irradiated by UVB for a long time on the shaved back. Each group was smeared with different concentration of SOP after UVB irradiation. HE staining was used to observe the histology of skin change and measure the thickness of epidermis and dermis. Masson staining was used to observe the collagen changes and measure collagen content. The superoxide dismutase( SOD) and glutathion peroxidase( GSH-Px) ativities, malondialdehyde( MDA) and hydroxyproline( HYP) contents were detected by assay kit. Results The groups which used SOP showed different degrees of protective effect on photoaging. Compared with the control group, the epidermal thickness was reduced significantly, the dermal collagen degradation was slowed down significantly, and the content of the MDA was decreased significantly and the activities of SOD,GSH-Px and the content of the HYP were increased significantly( all P 0. 01) in the group which used middle doses of SOP. Conclusion SOP has aprotective effect on the skin photoaging of BALB / c mice via increasing the antioxidation capacity.
