Surgical procedures in treatment of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy

This paper reviews the various anatomic techniques of temporal lobe resection used in surgical treatment of medically refractory mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. There are several resection techniques currently in use for treatment of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. The main differences among those techniques is in the extent of neocortical resection vs. mesial temporal resection and the anatomic approaches used (transsylvian vs. transcortical approach).
