Design and Control of a High Speed Motor and Generator Unit for Electric Turbocharger (E-Turbo) Application

This paper presents the design and control of a highspeed motor and generator unit (MGU)for E-turbo application. The MGU is a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM)with the features of high speed, high efficiency and power density. The corresponding controller requires a wider operating speed range and field weakening capability. The fast acceleration capability is extremely important for the application.
