The martensite twin substructure in the high carbon steel was investigated by use of the electron diffraction patteron (EDP) method and it was discovered that: the thickness of the minimun twin was thinner than 0.7 nm rather than 5 nm as published in literature. Although the twins in a martensite grain corresponding the same twinning plane exhibited the same EDP, the electron waves from these twins were noncoherent scattering each other.
