The application of the biodegradable mulch films was proved to be an efficient way to solve the plastic pollution in environment. This experiment mainly focused on the degradation of biodegradable mulch films and its effect on corn growth. The results showed that the degradation of biodegradable mulch films started with small holes, then the holes became bigger, and finally broken down to a lot of pieces at crop harvest stage.Observation of SEM revealed that the surface of biodegradable mulch films had obvious flaw at this time.Biodegradable mulch films had obvious effect on soil temperature and soil water conservation at early stage of corn growth, but its effect on raising soil temperature weakened at the middle and later stages of corn growth. The effect of covering degradable mulch films on corn yields was significant, but there was no obvious difference compared to that of ordinary film.
