Sustainable Development Study on Nanjing City Based on Ecological Footprint Model

By using ecological footprint model,the ecological footprint and bearing capacity of Nanjing City in 1995-2007 were studied quantitatively.The results showed that the ecological footprint per capita of Nanjing City was increased year by year and totally increased by 63.28% in recent 13 years,but its available ecological bearing capacity per capita was decreased year by year.Its ecological deficit per capita was increased continuously,from 2.383 4 hm2 per capita in 1995 to 4.368 7 hm2 per capita in 2007,and by 83.30% in recent 13 years.It was indicated that Nanjing City was in non-sustainable development state.
