Developing novel nanomaterials is of great significance to accelerate the development of analytical chemistry, especially for electrochemical sensors. In this work, nitrogen-doped hollow carbon nanospheres wrapped with MoS2 nanosheets (NHCS@MoS2) novel hybrids were prepared through a step-by-step strategy and used for the first time in electrochemical sensing. The morphologies and structures of NHCS@MoS2 were characterized by various technologies including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectra and electrochemical methods. Four typical targets (aminophenol (4-AP), acetaminophen (ACAP), ascorbic acid (AA) and dopamine (DA)) are introduced to study the electrochemical sensing performance of the produced NHCS@MoS2, the results manifested that the obtained NHCS@MoS2 can exhibit much higher electrochemical responses than single NHCS or MoS2 due to the synergetic properties from NHCS and MoS2, and the linear range coupled with the detection limit for DA (a representative analyte) based on NHCS@MoS2 are much better than most of the previous modified electrodes. This work provides a novel nanomaterial composed of NHCS and MoS2 with excellent sensing performance for electrochemical sensing, and it's believed that the obtained NHCS@MoS2 has wide application prospects in electrochemical sensing and other fields.
